A phallus, vertically mounted on a bar

The Small Ones

Erect wooden phalli are carried along the procession. Many breaks are made on the way to Tagata Shrine, so the procession moves rather slowly. One symbol is mounted vertically on a bar, which is carried by the villagers hoping for a good crop.

Women carry erect wooden symbols

Women from the village carry wooden symbols wrapped in red paper. Some spectators ask to let them touch the tip. This is supposed to bring safe birth and good health for their baby.
